I see on dobbins several indiana guys have been trapping and skinning coyotes from day one. just shake my head. also see several michigan, mn and wisc guys trapping and skinning coyotes and fox, coons too. read about 2 new york guys fighting over muskrats. markets must have gone up....... Also saw terry manley posted no indiana fur has any market at all now. I don`t know that I`d say that. I see $10 fox and coyote avgs, if prime. $1-2 rats and mink, $5-10 beaver. these are all finished prices. then they called terry a gloomy gus. I`m anxious to go west but holding off till later this year. word up is heavy coyotes off 20%, semis ff 50%, eastern and southern and flats no value and cats off 50% from top to half down and bottom 1/2 no value. hey look at the bright side, we have an otter season now that they $20.deer season opens in abpout 3 weeks and I plan on being in the stand opening morning and every morning there after till I kill all the law will allow or xmas tres biz gets too busy. or I freeze out. I remember last year opening morning of deer was 16 degrees and windy. brr.

I hAVE TO KEEP A FUR BUYERS LISC TO HOLD MY FUR OVER THE SUMMER SO HAVE HAD ONE FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS. USUALLY i GET 1-2 CALLS A YEAR GUYS THINKING i AM A VIGOROUS BUYER. LAST YEAR i BOUGHT 5 RATS, 3 COON AND 2 RED FOX AND A COUPLE COYOTES, IF i`M HOME AND IT`S NOT ROTTON FUR, WHICH MOSTLY IT IS SO i REFUSE TO BUY IT. i`VE ALWAYS REFUSED COON HUNTER FUR AS IT`S BAD EVEN WHEN IT`S GOOD, ALWAYS. OR DEER HUNTER SHOT COYOTES, OR LIMP FOLD IN HALF SLIPPER RATS, WHITE EYED BEAN BAG MINKS ETC. THIS YEAR i`VE HAD A DOZEN GUYS CALL ALREADY "WANTING TO KNOW PRICES". i TELL THEM THE BAD NEWS AND THEY ACT ALL SHOCKED, APPARENTLY THEY HAVE BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK FOR A COUPLE YEARS. GENERALLY THE COMMENTS ARE THEY GOT MY NAME OFF THE BUYERS LIST THE STATE PUTS OUT AND i`M SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE 4TH AND 10TH BUYERS THEY HAVE CALLED ALREADY AND ALL ARE TELLING THE SAME STORY, NO OR SO LITTLE MARKET IT COSTS MORE TO DRIVE THE FUR TO THE BUYER THAN THE FUR IS WORTH( BUT FFG SAYS COYOTES ARE WORTH UP TO $100!..ME, THEN SELL THEM TO FFG). THIS YEAR MY STORY IS NOT BUYING ANYTHING UNLESS IT`S AN ALBINO COYOTE OR SOMETHING i COULD MAKE SOME MONEY ON SELLING TO A TAXIDERMISTS. HECK, IT WILL BE BAD ENOUGH SKIN AND PUT UP MY OWN FUR LET ALONE OTHER FOLKS. i ALSO TELL THEM IF THEY GET A 1/2 DOG TAXIDERMY COYOTE, WHATEVER THEY DO, DO NOT SHOOT IT IN THE HEAD. THEY ALWAYS DO ANYWAY AND THEN IT CAN`T EVEN BE SOLD TO A TAXIDERMIST.

My traps are still packed away and looks like I don't need to be in a hurry. Ready for trusses on the house so maybe after this 3" rain they are calling for over the next 2 days, I'll get another break and get a roof on 'er.

Found 3 hens today. Found 2 more that was dried up. The 3 found was about 10 pounds for the bigger one and 5 lbs for both smaller hens. That is for the 3 that was useable.
