I'm assuming it was hit by a vehicle? I've got a farm down in Orange Co. and we've really begun to see/hear alot of kitties.

I remember hearing about the one in the 220. Sounding like yens are gettin a pretty good population going over there. A property owner down the road from our farm has one on video from lastyear. I seen one from a deer stand and we often hear 'em of a night while staying at the cabin. It's not hard to take a 5 min. walk down a creek bank and find a fresh set of kitty tracks at our place.

Thats really neat! I've hunted my cousins lease in Parke co for the last 5 years or so, but haven't seen one yet. We are about 6 miles north-east of Montezuma....what part of the county are the cats coming from?

Is that lease up on Sugar Creek? I grew up in Montezuma. if you were asking me, my cousins lease is a mile or so from Bloomingdale.....Loaded with deer. My lease was also in Parke Co, just west of Waveland. Not as good as his by B-dale.

what does a deer lease go for, by the acre, by the deer ,etc.? I have about 100 acres of woods and lots of deer. 9 bucks 8 point or over killed in this section( 640 acres) last fall. not all my ground, but I have all the woods they congregate too when the crops get out. for the right price I`d lease. crious as to liability issues in that too.

If you lease In Indiana you are no longer covered under land owner laws. It now becomes a bussiness and you have to be covered under insurence.
A friend just went through all this as he has some land he wants to lease. Now if you lease it to a friend and you feel comfortable with them then thats between you and them.
Or you think the person you lease to won't sue if they get hurt, then by all means have at it.
The going rate around her is $40 an acre. I have seen cheaper $10 per acre, and higher $80 per acre. but for the most part you can lease all the land you want around here for $40 and acre.
Bob what did you have in mind as far as price. That close to Indy you could get more then down here.

getting a lawyer to draw up a release form that holds shouldn`t be a problem, nor obtaining extra insurance coverage. at a forestry meeting a year back there was some company that sub leased wanting to rent ground for like $2-5 an acre. I just laughed and told him the &*^ deer are worth more to my kids to shoot at than that. if I thought I could lease for $40-80 an acre and the insurance etc didn`t eat me up, I`d jump on it. shoot the taxes alone on the tillable is $20 an acre. and the latest 20 acre addition I have 5 grand an acre in and barely got it at that.

Bob don't lease for any less than 80/acre...Offer first week of slug season for a grand, then 200 a week after. If they balk then say "well someone else will lease it then..." Then you can do turkey hunts to <if you have turkeys> $125 for three day hunt... If they need a place to camp cost.... extra.....
