I ‘m a sell all of my wild items to FHA but on the ranch items nafa seams to have the upper hand and a guy can and will receive more his ranch goods (fox) though them.
I wonder why?
Is the class of fox that FHA is receiving? Or the number that you receive…you need more to be able to bigger better lots
I would think that you would have more Blue fox to offer than you do….isn’t there a lot of blue fox produced in Canada?
Any thoughts……….

just a fwiw, I think there are lots of factors and they can be negative one year and positive the next. for example. fha had not typically got many western lynxcats, so I went nafa last year. well nafa had so many the buyers just filled up before they all sold and it was soft. fha had way fewer and got better prices and clearance both, hide for hide, grade for grade. only reason I can figure was the more limited quantity and buyers had to actually cvompete. so in down market times like now, I think less is actually better.

Thanks for the response Mr. Wendt. I would also like to here from gibb on this one.
Please note: I’m not knocking FHA It’s just what I see and maybe I’m looking at things wrong.

I think the ranch fox FHA gets are from loyal shippers (of wild goods) that mingle with some ranch stuff. Don't know if that is the case, just thinking out loud

All of the fox guys I know all go to NAFA and won’t think about FHA because they say the money isn’t there (if there’s any money in fox?)
Why?

Maybe because FHA is thought of only as a Wild Fur Auction company? and when the buyers go there it is to fill orders for wild fur only?

lol...I bet!
He came over to the house about a month ago, he really cares about what he is doing and really gives good insight to other agents on how to become successfull. He had a good home cooked meal and was on the road again. he is quite a guy. Tom, do you live in NY?

Sorry Jeff missed your question, what type of ranch fox, silvers, blues? Will check with Rumford, he is the fox man at FHA. Cheers Jim

Fur Harvesters has successfully sold ranch fox since its beginning. If we were not competitive obviously we would not have lasted. We have very little turnover of our Ranch Fox customers so this speaks to their satisfaction with both prices achieved, service and satisfaction of the sizing and grades. Prices at auction our always in a constant state of change. Even from one sale to the next, a shipper could ship to the Feb/March auction and receive total different results in the May auction. As the market fluctuates prices can be higher or lower from one sale to the next at either auction house.
Another thing that can cause numbers to look different is what skins are offered on the sale. Sometimes only the better goods are offered for sale on a given auction. We do not do this so are average will look lower if we offer anything.
Jeff the best fellow at FHA to talk fox with is Don Rumford, he is the fox man and this is what he answered me with when I posed your question to him. Cheers Jim
