we ck the same spots every year. dry drought years nada zip, wet years ( normal) they produce every year. if in doubt, pick early rather than late. they always have little crawly bugs, but we just wash them out. many are deep in the feathers and have to pick it apart to get the vernmin out. never seems to eefect them unless way far gone.I thought those looked a little past

Thanks for the pic's, I'm sure I've seen them in the wood befor but never know they could be eaten. I'll be on the lookout for them for sure now.

i have never found any in harrison county but have been looking hard in the dust lol we just need rain i guess. The pastures wont grow so i doubt if the shrooms will. Maybe we get to bobs and go raidin? He sure bragged on that one tree last year. lol

here without a rain I think we are dead in the water for this year. we never got a drop the last storms that flooded n.w and western indiana. wet as it was last spring and we are in an official drought now. the creek dried up again, 4th time in 30 years. I`l; have to ask no campfires except omn the gravel parking lot, at the campout, again this year. man, I`m sorry guys, but too much risk otherwise. basically no rain here to amount to anything since late july.

while I`m at it, anyone need firewood, I mean like fill your truck with nice oak and ash and maple and beech, come early, bring chainsaw and fill the truck to the gills. easy drive up to it stuff from last springs tornadoes. take the best and leave the rest
