I always look forward to a good mess of ramps each spring. They are coming up now so it wont be long. Doyle taught me how to cook them. Doyle taught me a lot of things..

How do you cook them? Camping in high school we used to throw them in a can of beans. I put up a new wood duck box yesterday. Instead of planting seedlings this year I've got a few projects like that lined up I never seem to make time for.

You can boil them, then pour off water and add a little butter, but my favrite way is to fry in a skillet with a couple slices of bacon.
That looks like good wood duck habitat! Zach lives in a woods about 100 yards from a pond and he has a pair of woodies nesting in a hole in a beech tree in his yard.

That was Doyle's secret, fry them in butter with bacon? Anythings good if you do that!
A wood duck nests in that brush pile every year. Wanted to make them a nicer home. Can't wait to set up the game camera.
