Never heard of any, but wouldnt be surprised to hear of one in the very southwest part. DNR said there were no alligator gars in IN.

I think we have one in the pond. his head is big as a cantelope, like 6" across, serious. never seen anything anywhere near that before and caught some 25 lbers in the past with baseball size heads. this thing is easy 2-3 times that size.. we are going to catch it and will report back what the heck it is.

I caught one in a conibear over in Hendricks county. I was small like 3in. It didn't hurt him. that was probably 4 or 5 yrs ago

you still in indiana, or colorado? little snappers will have bumps like an alligator snapper. they smooth out as they grow, only on the regular snappers. so maybe the little one was, maybe not

Colorado, it could have been a regular snapper but it had the little pyramid bumps. I think it was though That seems all we had growing up in the 60s were alligator snappers. Wish mom and I were coming this fall to your get together. But that will never happen again. She always looked forward to it and she thought the world of you. Thanks for being our friend!
