My son and I made some syrup this year its a fun thing and get to spend the day out in the woods.

WE DO THAT HERE. RIGHT NOW i`M HOPING MARK IS GETTING SOME ELKLE ROASTLE. i HEAR YOU CAN BOIL HICKORY , SOFT MAPLE, AND BOX ELDER SAP FOR SYRUP TOO. WE NEVER TRIED ANYTHING BUT THE SUGAR MAPLE

Soft maple works just takes more sap.I try hickory and box elder but got no sap .was going to keep separate and see what they taste like.

I heard the same about walnut....I got a dozen large trees i'm gonna tap next spring and try it....tapped our maples for the first time this spring....best gallon and a half of syrup ive ever tasted....lol

WALNUT BLEEDS LIKE HECK IF YOU TRIM A BRANCH IN THE SPRING, SO IT SHOULD PRODUCE A LOT OF SAP TO BOIL DOWN.

One of the loggers I work with had a hickory recipe. If I remember right, the recipe had you boil the bark
