the wisc source seeds at least 2-3 months ahead of indiana wild. seems very little is fertile however, or survives to reproduce due to timing, weather or some unknown reason. I`ve a 35 year old patch of knee high 4 prongs at my old place in wanamaker and nary a 1 or 2 prong in the area, just the original old stuff planted 35 years ago. have you ever had any luck planting that red seed and it making new plants? I have not, and I`ve tried repeatedly.

that stuff doesn`t like our weather heat and humidity. I`d give doyles left arm for a reliable source of bonafide wild origin central states seed. near as I can tell no matter where you buy seed, carolinas, iowa, where ever, it`s all that wisc stuff. you can get a one rotation crop of shaky over size 1/2 domestic root out of but that`s it..in my experience.
