none here in greenfield yet. may apples are up and almost unfolded. it`s time, but been too cold so far. was 28 degrees juast a few nights ago. maybe be one of those years where it goes from winter to summer and no mushrooms. least ways we are getting used to it now. flood to drought, winter to summer.

Doyle,
Any luck in your neck of the woods? I'm about 20 miles East of Warsaw and no go here yet. May apples aren't even popping here yet.

I found a few yesterday but not like I should. I got my doubts about this being a good year again. Starting to wonder if acid rain is messing up the mycelium.

Every place I go, the ground is scratched up and rooted up around the ash and poplar trees. I have always been told that turkeys and deers don't eat morels but I believe that they do and in a big way. I have been out 3 times and have only found scratched up patches. What do you all think? Mike

I would say the turkey are hunting for a certain bug or grub around those trees. I don't see why deer don't eat mushrooms, I know turtles do, I have seen them eating them. I did find about 20 morels after dinner. Most were snakeheads and some yellows. first yellows I have seen this year. I think they are just starting to come up. The woods I found the yellows in always produces that kind and not much else.

I found about twenty in the last two days and yes turkey are hard on mushrooms. I don't known if they eat the mushrooms or the bugs around them but one thing I can tell you they will flat tear up a mushroom patch.

Yepper I just started finding them yesterday fairlt good also went about 1 1/2 hrs. today and found a good mess of them. Most what I am finding is the yellows and grays with a few snake heads in them. The blacks just don't come up around here like they used to.
