Tim, Gibb or anyone, The quote below is from the South Dakota Trappers
Associations presidents report copied off of their website.

"We received a check from NAFA for $998.26 and a check from FHA for $252.39."

My question is....what does an organization need to do to qualify for fianancial support like this? Would the Outdoor channel project being done by the FTA qualify the FTA for fianancial help from FHA?

The State Trapper president has to send a letter to FHA describing their Trapper ed program and request to get a % of fur sold from said state.

So does this leave a national organization out or......could the national organization write a letter pick up the balance of funds not distributed to the state associations?

One thing that I would like to see done, that isn't present is on your Fur Harvester shipping tag - there is a spot on the top right corner that you can put an X in the box to become/renew your NTA membership. The funds for membership is withheld from your fur check.
I would like to see the same option added for FTA membership.

I can see where not having the FTA option on their would seriously pi$$ off perspective shippers! I haven't even shipped to FHA yet and it already has me upset!

Tim, call FHA and try to get this corrected.

The USA shippers have a Rep. on the Board. His name is Toby Edwards. I will talk with Toby about getting FTA on the shipping tag along side NTA. But, it would be nice if others called also to show the importance of doing it.

That wasn't intended to be an ouch! I really don't know if NAFA has a box for FTA. I haven't seen a tag or anything from NAFA in several years.

No, NAFA does not, but they do not have NTA on their either so it nots like they are showing favortism.

I can guaruntee you I will be discussing this issue with them as I think it is an excellent idea and should be promoted.

Personally I don't feel either auction house should collect membership fees any organization. I feel the money it cost the auctions houses to pay someone to do the record keeping, the funds for mailing (postage envelopes checks etc) and the funds to fix the screw ups from people not checking and unintentionally checking the boxes all that money could be added to the promoting wild fur fund.
On showing favoritism... I think that is quick to jump since you nor I know how it came about. Maybe NTA approached FHA and FTA didn't. Maybe it went for a vote by the FHA members/shippers and only NTA passed. I don't really know but I try not to jump to conclusions. Who knows maybe NTA even pays for this service.

I think you have several good points Alexis. Concentrate on selling our fur, any one that really wants to support our trapping organizations will in their own way.
