i have read in threads here and there, where someone has lost exspencive catch poles, question is, are they that much better, than others, if so can ya change the cable on em EASILY, say after every 50 yotes or so, and if they are the line tensioner type, are the tensioners heavy duty and no fail rite in the dang middle of something? and if they're that much better where can ya get one?

forget catch poles completely. that`s stone age now, get with rk and get a set of coyote tongs. you`ll wonder how you ever lived without them.

i got tongs i use around the house loading ,unloading, and doctoring, but ya have to keep one hand on the handle to keep it closed, i like the loop at the catch site because of the freedom of movement of my hands.

rk`s has a lock on the handle of his tongs. you still need 2 hands if you get a bucker.

For live yotes I prefer the cheaper pvc poles, yes they only last for a while but they do take a lot of abuse. The PVC poles also have bigger diameter cable than the high dollar poles.
As for the higher dollar poles, yes they are worth it with the bobcats but not the yotes.
Typically (with out loosing any) I will wear out (destroy) one high dollar Ketch All or Tomahawk pole and at least two pvc poles each season.

Bob- I've SEEN your catch pole in your video- LOL
biggest trick to save pole life with canines, is to have a stick placed through the loop- that way, you never get bite marks into the plaatic cable wrap.

i use a stick on the real baduns, it's the ones that ain't to bad, but slip in a few good bites that get them loops, i've only used 3/16, bet the 1/8 don't last long at all. got a pretty good collection of catch poles and changed out cables , the pvc ones are pretty good for changeing cables, just the tensioners malfunction ever so often(ballbearings fall, out or jam up). i'll make it till March 31 rst.

I remember my first 2 coyotes I noosed. 1st one was a young pup- he layed down and he had to lift up his head by the back of his neck to slip noose on.
All the dnr guys were there- this noosing pretty easy we all thought.....
next day by myself, big male- walked up with noose out- next thing I knew that pole was out of my hands and being flipped through the air while I stood there like a dolt. I think 90% of the bite marks in my cable...came from him.
