Got some coon in from a neibour early last week. The coon were covered head to toe in borax.... They all needed re-scraped from the neck till about half way down. Worked on them coon this weekend cussing the whole time... First blew off as much borax as I could with the air compress (should have worn saftey glasses).....then spend an hr re-scaping them. That was a big wate of time for a few....then blow away all the left over borax again, and again, again..... Go in the house and I am like a walking shifter of borax....its all over my hands, clothes, hair, boots, etc..... I said to myself... NEVER again will I ever work on a coon that has had a borax overload.....it just ain't worth it and still today them coon are still a borax mess..... My question, does the auction house see many coon like this and what are the thoughts about it? LOADED BORAX

We do not recommend borax on fur out skins. Like anything else in the world a little can go a long ways. Borax does not needed to be used on coon. The trapper needs to learn how to scrap his fur properly. Cheers Jim

I bought about 150 coon from a fella that had put borax on the coons in a very very small amt in just a few hides. The dang stuff is on just about every coon he had . They all have a gritty feeling to them.

not borax, but I thought too cool. a guy calls me yesterday, all excited. he shot a coyote and tells me he will bring it out and sell it too me ( on carcase). I says no you won`t, it`s not worth anything. he was amazed, said he heard big bucks! I won`t say how much he said he heard they were worth, lol, don`t want anyone get hurt falling off the chair. I don`t think he believed me so I`m sure he called around A BUNCH OF BUYERS BEFORE HE FINALLY ACCEPTED REALITY.

Bob I get those kind of calls several times a week. Not just on yotes , but everything. The one I liked best was the call from a fella about a week after season went out. He was all excited and said he heard coon was bringing big bucks. Said he just got a new walker dog and was going to start knockintg coons out of the trees the night he called. I hated to do it, but I had to bust his bubble.
