Last monday after I swore to my wife no more beaver jobs till fall I took the last beaver job of the year (till next fall) I promise.
However this pair of beaver (i think) on a 8 acres lake (one main hut and one small hut with numerous bank holes) have not been caught for 6 days now.
The beaver do not react to food lure (woodchipper), will not react to castor and for 2 days now have discontinued stopping the drain pipe up.
I have snares in trails, pass through were they are eating, blind set footholds around feed beds and the drain pipe, plugged the main hut holes (I thought) with 330, and two entrances on the small hut with 330 (just set those about two days ago). blink set snares, this is a variable mine field of snares foot holds and now 330's.
What next any suggestions? Well maybe I just needed to vent.

Yep found out that the owners friends have been coming out after I leave in the morning and evening to see what if any thing has been caught.
Such nice people making sure that all my subtle guide sticks have been moved so the poor beaver dont get poked in the eye.
To much human activity in one week when no one has been to the lake in the four prior months.
The lady told me that she had a guy who required her to lower her lake 5 foot, he came out and removed the beaver from the dens in one day.
Any body ever heard any bull like this before.

Have we heard it? Well heck yes, just check with some of the other forums.....Some of those guys walk on water, they don't even need hip boots....if they could get them on!

I am surprised are you Robert. That is how I do it all the time. I have my clients lower the lake till I can see both entrances to the lodge. I than place my super size colony trap in one entrance and send the dog in the other. When I see the dog go into the trap I know I got them all. The dog than puts her legs through the bottom of the trap and walks the trap and all up to the truck. Don't tell me you still use hip boots?

Tim, What is your recommended way for your clients to lower the water level? Just have them siphon the water over the dam with a garden hose?

The recommended method here has been to rent a huge pump and pump the water over the pond dam.
Mr. Julian what breed of dog is that and what are the dimensions for that colony trap. (Joke, ha, ha ha)
Hmmm, maybe a scuba suit with beaver spear gun
Robert I told you I hate lake beaver.
Hey if you see or talk to Carlis tell him that the lake owner just fed his trophy bass 400 to 500 pounds of live crawfish (about 2.50 lb live right now) I would like to hear Carlis reaction to the blatant waste of possible boiled crawfish.

I had a summer job or two in years past where I dove under and felt around some. always afraid to dive with a set 330 however. visual image now appears. flop flop.

I did find the hut entrances, the water is so deep there that I filled my waders, ever had that happen, all alone by your self, almost as bad as the 330 situation. And apparently I cant find all the holes cause of the water depth.
I was seriously considering the scuba suit just so I want get skunked on this job.

Dang Richard you will have to tell me where that lake is , we need to drain it immediatly a get some of those crawfish before the bass eat em all!!!!! You still having problem getting those beaver. Had a job about the same deal, come to find out the old sow had moved completly out, found a trail later in the spring over the dam through the woods 300 yards and back into the creek another half mile and had that dammed up and staying there. Guess you might say it was the vacation get away. I did notice that they were back in the lake again this year.

Carlis, the bass have probably eaten all the crawfish by now, overstocked and full of hungry fish.
And yes I found one such creek, with one such trail, however a beaver is still plugging a drain pipe.
Still working on it. One of the worlds largest rodents with brains bigger than mine,

yoiu sure mcniece isn`t stuck in the drain pipe? tie a quarter or a baggy of pot to a 330 trigger and see if he is in it next day.
