Clearences are good so far....nearing 100% on most items for the first day...
I think that is the most important thing that we were wondering..."Will fur sell this year"....
This sale was/is to set the tone as the early sales didn't move any fur to speak of (well FHA did with Beaver & Muskrat along with some other items)...but raccoon was the big ?
Kopenhagen reported that priceing was down close to 20% off of Decembers Sale.......
With the value of the US dollar being a factor also (up 15%) from last year
Overall, at this early stage of the sale I would feel that the fur moving is a positive....

I think everyone expected prices to be lower. Glad to see high clearances.

Yep...high clearances were my main concern........
I guess the fur market doesn't need a bail out at this point....
Ranch mink guys are probably relieved also, but the lower pricing may set a few back or even out of business....maybe not?

Some will go out of business which will decrease supply, which will help prices. Its a vicious circle.

Ranch mink have had a good run for the last 5 years overall. Last production of 57.5 million skins was a record crop and had record prices. This year's production is suppose to come in at 52 million pelts. Even if the price drops as it has the rancher have had a good deal. Cheers Jim
