Nex to impossible in IN. to get charged with murder. You basically have to SHOW that you had it planned in advance. Manslaughter at best.
I had a cousin who shot a man here in the early 90s. Arguing and shot him in the head. No fight, no fisticuff, just an argument. That simple. He got 7 yrs. voluntary manslaughter and walked in exactly 3 1/2. (2 for 1 in IN.).

seems like the dead guy was being a bad guy and died for it, I don't see a problem here
