FWIW, i`VE CAUGHT A LOT OF MATURE MALES BACK TO BACK. LIKE THEY HAVE A BUDDY SYSTEM OF TOMS TOGETHER RUNNING IN PAIRS. BET THE OTHER ONE IS A MALE AND NOT A FEMALE. i HAVE MORE INFREQUENTLY CAUGHT MALE AND FEMALE BACK TO BACK. THE HIGHEST % REPEATS IS A SOW AND HER KITTENS STILL RUNNING TOGETHER. 2ND IS 2 MALES, AND LAST A MALE AND FEMALE.

I'm doing fine where there are red fox. The coyotes have kicked my arse. Early on traps froze coyotes worked sets. This warm spell and they cruse by don't work the set. Moved some traps today, blended some good and let the others have open flashy look. Discouraging when I'm so close but no cigar. The toms buddy returned last night. Prints look smaller assuming it's a female just missed the pan by a inch. I've got a few more days she might b back. Set up badger hole hoping for badger or coyote. Both tracks in the dig hole. Put up a Kansas tote today and boy was it nice. White belly well furred. Thought I'd be taking several home now having doubts. I should fill my freezer with bunnies as they are easy to come by. Lol

I had 4 sets where I caught the Tom. Only 1 was worked. Was the one I caught Tom in. Coyotes ain't thick here like home. A set of tracks every couple days. One day saw 3 sets to gather. Locals say they are thick, but I'm not seeing the sign. Wish there was more woven wire fences here but it's just about all barbed wire. Set some fresh sign today I'll see what tomorrow brings. Still a great trip regardless now I can get that badger.

No action today. Seems like the sets just died. No tracks at all today

Caught another Tom in the remake. My buddy caught the badger in the hole we had set. We remade it hoping for coyotes now. Two days left.

good deal. badgers are always in pairs . never one, always 2, a male and a female. just like pairs of beaver. a single is almost never.

Sad two of us trapping and just got first coyote today. We kept track last 2 days of non targets. 25 possoms, 3 skunks, 2 rabbits. He couldn't believe it either as we've scratched our heads about these coyotes. I'll probably catch some at home for the heck of it. Indiana yotes are mostly worthless comparing them to these yotes. I accomplished catching a cat (2)and my buddy caught the badger. Now a goal is for catching multiple coyotes pout here. Pulling sets tomorrow so that goal might b for another time. I've got a lot to learn while trapping out here.

Don't let it get you down. You can't catch them if their not there. When I wen't to Texas a few years ago, I had dreams of coyotes jumping in the truck and dispatching themselves! We were on the tail end of a big drought, no coyotes or cats. We did catch Grey Fox and coons. My Dad's not a trapper; but he came with me and we had a blast, made memories to last a lifetime.

there are some pretty big areas off the country that the coyotes are just died out from disease. my guess is you just landed in an area like that. a hand full of scarce coyotes can leave a lot of tracks , giving the impression there are a lot more there than really are. they aren`t hard to catch, even in big numbers, by kids, anyone, so it`s not you. it`s no coyotes. it happens.
