To all those trappers who traveled many hundreds of miles yesterday to defend our sport Thank You! We came from all corners of the state FTA members and officers,Ista members and officers,Many took the day off and lost both time and money to attend this important meeting..Travis even went on his 16th birthday...(thanks Travis & Daniel). Thanks also go out to those who got the van, hired the lawyer and on and on.. I'm glad to be among such people who are willing to stand up for there rights.. We may have lost a battle but the war ain't over...Chuck

I posted this on another site, that showed an article on the findings of the NRC..
It went okay (no fights broke out...lol). Most thought that it was well decided ahead of time on the outcome. Still quite a few had their fingers crossed.
There were probably (hard to get a true count and figure as to "who was who") maybe 50 Anti's and 30 Trappers.
Both groups only were allowed 10 minutes to state their case (which was fair, but showed the commission didn't need many more comments to decided...lol)....The anti's blew their 10 mins quacking like a duck and never addressed the rule change itself, just how trappers were scum and coyotes were miss-understood fuzzy critters that just want the live in harmony with us... One comment the ANTI lady made that I thought was interesting...."So what if a coyote eats a cat or kills one, the cat should be in the house and not be out roaming"
I think thats common ground between the anti lady and trappers...maybe we can build on that...lol. The Anti's would yell from the crowd at times when the commission was discussing things and the commission had to threaten expulsion(sp) if out brakes continued.
Trappers were module citizens and should be proud of how they conducted themselves.......it really showed what a radical group that the Anti's are......
Both cases were made (a legal argument was presented by an attorney on behalf of trappers in attendance)...there was very little discussion before the vote and the vote was taken and now is a done deal unless the attorney general or Mitch doesn't sign off......both are expected to sign.
DNR did switch positions throughout this ordeal in the late innings and gave trappers the ability to keep untanned hides of coyotes all year long and pieces and parts of coyotes taken in the offseason (kinda like it was 4-5 years ago).......that was a plus and something we wouldn't have got if we didn't march on this.
The nuts and bolts are that the Proposed Rule passed and the DNR clarified what they wanted clarified..
