Ginseng is getting way to much publicity. This isn't good for diggers nor buyers. The story I read kinda lumped Ginseng into drugs, illegal weapons and illegal growing of ginseng. If this keeps up, there will be no one that will want to mess with Ginseng. I think the Government is trying to make seng look real bad. The Co called me 4 days into the season and asked about a man that sold some seng to me last year. they are using our log papers to go to our customers and ask them questions. Not Cool! The question he asked was, is it possible for a man to have Ginseng dry in 4 days. My answer to that question is , absolutely, you can dry ginseng in 2 days with the correct setup. I dry Seng in 3-4 days every week. It isn't the big 1 to 2 ounce roots, but it is still nice sized ginseng.

I have watched that show, they seem to play fast and loose. Wonder if they have permission or they just trespass. Same with the mushroom hunters. What ever it takes is my guess.

From what I understand, it was the people growing seng on somebody without permission. I am fine with standard law enforcement, but when it comes to the COs going through log papers to harass people before or even after season comes in, i don't really care for it. I don't mind helping the DNR on a real Bust that comes from people getting caught doing things that are illegal. Example is, I helped Doyle bust a fella that had stolen several pounds of his ginseng. I talked to the DNR to help nail the scumbag that stole from Doyle. I welcome the DNR to bust illegal digging, either in or out of season.

It is the illegal ones that make it bad for all of us.They saw in a buyers log that a guy up here had sold 10 lbs dry root on sept 15.(possible)so they go to his house and he has two lbs dry root in august and admitted he was digging out of season but couldn't remember where he dug it but close to my place.I believe it was mine. If they have permission and dig like we have to I have no problem but if there sneaking around stealing they need found in the ditch some place.

what was his fine or penalty for having seng before season and stealing it from someone whoever it was? won`t learn him if all he gets is a slap. can you say his name? no way he can get enough punishment imo. he needs to make restitution and banned from selling `seng the rest of his life. it ought be no different than timber theft or combine a guys field of corn. till the dnr gets serious on this it will never stop.

JUST RESTITUTION TO THE SENGS REAL OWNER ? HE NEEDS A FINE AND COURT COSTS TOO. IT SHOULD BE A FELONY IMO. ROB A BANK FOR 6 G AND HE`D GET A LOT MORE THAN GIVE THE $ BACK.

I agree but the jails are full and they wont put them in jail unless they wont try to pay.The first guy got nothing but probation and was arrested one year after that for making meth. He is still around didn't do any thing to him then .

You heard it here first,,,from ME.
'Seng WILL be illegal in our lifetime. And here's why.
1) We all know the DNR doesn't want anyone to make a dime off the outdoors. Get a paycheck job.
2) The TV show and publicity of 'seng will make it so...same as now that duck hunting is all over TV...everyone is a bearded duck hunter on the river now. 10 yrs. ago..there were just a handful.
3) The price is skyrocketing....this alone will, eventually, make the DNR outlaw its possession. Garden grown or not, they will lump garden grown'seng in with "illegal" wild seng...the same way they lump hemp in as illegal the same as pot. They look alike, but are two diff. plants. This is how the DNR will see it.
