So, I was reading an Outdoor Life magazine and they mentioned this tiny article on coon. They said in Chicago and St. Louis and other Midwestern capitals theirs a new growing delicacy for coon meat believe it or not. It was in the May edition. Now, would any of you guys be intrested?

Many, many trappers do sell thier coon to a meat market. Souther trapper are better known for it but, my fur buyer sells several to a traveling meat wholeseller. Your on the right track just alittle behind. Prices range from $2-$3 per carcass up to $8-$10 per carcass. Just depends on were you are and how well you market things.

Yeh, I am still trying to comprehend everything there is about trapping. I guess I make a lil' extra money if I actually do catch at least one coon this next season, eh? Thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to do some research into what restraunts are buying what.

Don't think resturaunts (although it don't hurt to try) think butchers, meat markets or private persons. I know some sell quite a few to local buyers. Getting the word out is the problem.

My old buyer died 2 years ago and i am having trouble finding one that can handle them fast enough. My old buyer would take 30 to 50 a week,so i knew i could freeze them and have a market.The buyers i sell to now buy 5 or 6 for them self,not hardly worth messing with.

Would a buyer buy anything else? Like muskrat, beaver, even coyote (if their Chinese that won't be a problem ).

I know several people eat mrats and beaver. I have not heard of a market for the meat though. What I have done is GIVE the carcass away to keep from having to bury it or haul it off. A few guys will pick them up if I keep them clean and freeze them quick. This keeps the carcasses from pilling up as fast. They usually tell me when they want some and I save them they usually pick up the day I catch them so freezer space is not tied up.

Coon, Beaver,Muskrat and Opposumn are all good items. Mostly in the order I listed them at.

Don, Ronnie had a traveling meat supplier that bought large amounts of coon a few years back did you sell any to this guy??

I was kinda curious as to the laws on this...................might want to look at your state's regulations before you go publicizing your wildgame sales.

I checked it out. I can't sell parts of wild game, but for furbearers it's an exception. They also included deer antlers and their tails, but that's besides the point. The point is... I am allowed to make much of a profit off the furbearer as possible. So, whoopie.
