This might sound weird, but I'm hopin' these attacks will knock some sense into people. I looked up CA's rules on 'em and leg-holds, conibears, and snares can be used only for pest control and you cannot take any fur off the animal.

30 yrs ago when I lived their the anti's slid a law past us hunters about lion hunts, we didn't read the fine print thought it was a good thing for the lions. only to find out it put a 25 yr moritorium on hunting lions. so hundreds of homes and fires later the band was lifted then the antis tried very well I might add to buy up all the tags for lion hunts, so that was a wash. all along yotes where in everyones trash cans same places where kids waited on side of street to go to school, yotes all along have been jumping 6' fences and taking pit bulls out by the head in one case I read, that was a lion that did that 60lb lion actually. then a field mouse of some sorts became the focus, of another endangered animal so they could stop the building of subdvisions, so people are not allowed to cut the field grass down along their back fences ext, to keep the fire hazard down, could and where arrested or sitted for doing so. one of the reasons a grass fire is so dangerouse if you can't keep a fire break away from your back fence even if you own the property. they just don't get it, in fact they start it and ask for it, couldn't wait to get out a way from all the antis and homo's. I learned at a early age the meaning of a firm hand shake. first guy that gives you a limp wristed hand shake, just knock his head off and be done with it. rules to live by. sorry to any calif, lovers but being I'm from thier I can speak the truth. thats actually the problem we see today and why I dont like the other forum to much, some really great people on it, but when you talk about problems with anti's first thing they say is I pull all my sets and just move to another spot when I'm having anti problems don't want to give trapper a bad name and a moderator at that, then when you tell them to get a back bone they boot your thread. if you don't stand up to anti's then instead of moving to another spot you should just sell your traps because you will loose your right, I'm only a first yr trapper but I won't let any anti, when one thing from me and they say it gives trappers a bad name. BULL I don't think so. it tell's them to stay away from us and let us do what is legal in our state to do. I'm proud to be getting into a hobby thats needed as bad as ours. and not afraid to tell people I trap.

The standard answer is that it's our, people's that is, fault. It even pops up on here. BUT, you don't give the critters their own credit. Coyotes are, as we all know, very adaptable. And are showing up in neighborhoods where there is little or no recent growth. They are doing what they do best, adapting to an opportunity, and seeking prey were ever it may be. Without a good plan to keep the numbers in check, and a way to re-enforce a fear of people, these attacks will only get worse. Lord knows how many missing children have already been used for puppy chow.

sad to think of how many kids may be missing because of that, and something that needs to sink in.

here is another one. this isn't isolated, this happens all the time, but paper is probably owned by anti's and they don't play it up as much as it should be, I'd bet
California 2-Year-Old Dragged From Yard by Coyote in Third Such Attack in Five Days
LAKE ARROWHEAD, Calif. — A coyote grabbed a 2-year-old girl by the head and tried to drag her from the front yard of her mountain home in the third incident of a coyote threatening a small child in Southern California in five days, authorities said.
The coyote attacked the girl around noon Tuesday when her mother, Melissa Rowley, went inside the home for a moment to put away a camera, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in an incident report.
Rowley came out of the house and saw the coyote dragging her daughter towards a street. She ran towards her daughter, and the animal released the girl and ran away, said sheriff's spokeswoman Arden Wiltshire.
Rowley took her daughter to a hospital where the toddler was treated for several punctures to the head and neck area, and a laceration on her mouth. She was then flown to Loma Linda University Hospital for further treatment, although her injuries were not life-threatening.
State Fish and Game wardens and county animal control authorities set traps for the coyote and were monitoring the neighborhood high in the San Bernardino Mountains about 65 miles miles northeast of Los Angeles.
On Friday, a nanny pulled a 2-year-old girl from the jaws of a coyote at Alterra Park in Chino Hills, a San Bernardino County community about 30 miles east of Los Angeles. The girl suffered puncture wounds to her buttocks and was treated at a hospital.
A coyote came after another toddler in the same park Sunday. The child's father kicked and chased the coyote away.
Alterra Park is near Chino Hills State Park, a natural open space of thousands of acres spanning nearly 31 miles.

It is sad but that is what it will take to wake people up.The sad thing is the dnr out there was saying well this isn't normal just watch your kids in these areas. Then when one gets eaten they will say it again, but the truth is by not hunting and trapping they lose there fear of us.

One week ago today, I killed a female yote here on my place. I only have twenty acres. I shot her with my single six. i also happened to have my three yr old with me...(we were going mushroom hunting). Now I watch him close when he's out playing in the yard. Too many yotes....
