ok, hen of the woods. we are over stocked and they are about going , or going to go. if anyone wants a big one free and don`t mind coming here to get it, come on. couple more days and it will be too late. we`ve given away to everyone we know around here already.

I have ate and froze, and give away. When I'm coming back from bowhunting, I always want to walk past every big oak, but trying to break that habit. LOL

ya, looking at more oaks is like setting extra coyote traps. you might just get 3 more than you really want. I had a coyote run off right in front of me this morning and I didn`t even get mad, just laughed and said adios buddy!

They haven't hit big time down here yet. I found a few last week and then went to some other spots and didn't find any.

ours are too far gone here, now. as to frost, don`t know. in years past when they weren`t too far gone and it frosted hard I`d take newspapers out the day before and cover them. elliot murdock was here yesterday and was saying one year he saw this big pile of spread out papers under a tree in our woods and for the life of him couldn`t figure out what they were there for or how they got there.

Jon, don't be surprised to find them up to the middle of Dec. I just picked 2 fresh ones last week.

no fat on them. you need to cut up and cover with mushroom soup, or fry like chicken, or stuff like a turkey and bake. the old ones are too tough to eat, but these are all cage raised birds and less than 6 months old, so plenty tender. I got about 30 so figured take some to ks, save some for the cook out next year, where ever it is, and eat the rest here. they aren`t as dry as a chicken breast, so that`s good. I skinned them all rather than pluck. I bet plucked they`d a been better but I had to do them all in one day plus trying to trap and dig trees. you know how that is, everything happens at once.

like leroy and the pentecostal preacher. preacher asks if anyone has problems they need prayed about. leroy says his hearing. so he comes up front and preacher sticks fingers in leroys ears and they pray and the whole congregation prays for leroys hearing too. afterwards preacher asks if his hearing is better now. leroy says I dunno, it`s not to next wed at 10 a.m.
