Sure glad to hear you enjoyed them Tony. When they are fresh, it is much better. Doyle brought some Hens that were smokin' fresh up to Bob's and we battered and deep fried them in peanut oil and it was awesome.

if it`s a wet fall we make ourselves sick from eating so much hen. cook it every day for a couple weeks, give them to everyone and still too many. on a dry year we just mope around and cry all the time. no hens. on the new farm I bought there is a big oak hen tree and I used to go poach the hen every year. now that I own that tree probably the hen won`t taste near as good. it`s like stolen pears, always sweeter than boughten pears. I might have to sell that farm just get good herns again.

well,at least it will taste good again. when we are wet we can`t even pick them all there are so many. but man, get a drought year and it gets real solemn around here come october. I tried something a little different last year, I took that hard white part and cooked it on the grill. reral good in a sandwixh with condiments. was like eating a portabella or meat.

Bob, those shrooms are like drugs once you have had a taste you're hooked. I can see this playing out....Yote live market is dead, but Bob's mushroom cronic is going strong. Once the DNR realizes you are making a profit off of a natural resourse, a sting operation will be planned and executed. DNR will state "those mushrooms were used as live game for the evil mushroom hunter."
