Don do you put your Indiana coon up on those boards? Do you ever have any XXL or XXXL?? I think those boards are a little too wide for us.
I'm trying to get a board that finishes a coon at 7". so what board width should be 6 1/2 or 6 3/4.

Don that is the correct board size for our coon. I have loads of xx,xxx, xxxx and a few xl. & in board is a bit on the narrow side. The majority of my coon stretch at 7 3/8. Over60% of what I buy goes xx or above. If I could get some darn basswood I could build you some real nice 6 3/4 or 7 in wide boards. I have a pattern for several different sizes

Don W, let me get this straight...you put most all your coon on the same board dimensions that are pictured above?
I do feel a few narrow boards (7") come in handy for those L coon...for the small runts..
Got 10 dz coming that are same as the pic above from a PA guy....being delivered at the OSTA Conv....
I feel a fox board works in a pinch for real small coon, but the nose is too pointie..

Tim I use one board for everything except the x small coon. Most of the x small I don't mess with. The boards that you bought from me last yr. will handle all sizes without any problems . They are made so that when you get a lg. coon, he will stretch at 24 in. at the base. Anything less than 24 will be a bit narrower that that. The standards on coon call for the lg. coon to be 7 in wide st 24 long. If you get any narrower than that the grader is going to catch the coons being undersized and grade them down a size.. Any grader worth his salt can look at a coon and tell if the coon is supposed to be smaller than the lengrh you have him stretched at. Most of the time the tail tells the story. and when you get to a certain size, the fur pretty much dictates what size coon you may have. As far as the boards being to wide to get a coon on comfortably, 95% of the coon you get will fit one board size. Like I said earlier, if I have some dinks, they can go on a fox stretcher or a wire. I personally don't have but a very small handfull of coon that won't fit that board.

They are not all for me, We"ll have some with us at times during FHA pickup routes in Indiana. If a guy feels the need to pickup a few boards we'll have them there.. Matter of fact I should get 20 dz as I think they would move at the next few conventions, but the markup isn't that great so just get some and see what happens....2 of the dz are already pre-sold we will also be doing a "Put up" service this year (for green coon) and will need extra boards for that.....have one guy that is having us do 200-300 coon right off the bat to get our feet wet...lol... I put up about 600 coon last year (I didn't catch them..lol) and had time to trap/goof off......now my goof off time may get shorter if the "put-up" service gets rollin.. Gonna have to have Alexis fleshing this year...hehe...or atleast take them off the boards (more like it Don, if you start making boards again let me know...I liked the ones you made.

Thanks Tim. All I need is a steady supply of Basswood. I turned down a lot of orders this yr. because I could only get a small amt. of wood. That sucks!

Tim how much are you going to charge for coon scraping? I might need some done . Do you have a lot of freezer space? Can you handle 500 at a time?

Freezer space will not be as big of an issue as previous years, cause I'd have them packed with meat for the yotes, ain't as concerned about that as the last few years.... I think close to 500 skinned in the freezers, may be possible... Shoot Don, how many coon you gonna get this year? When I was down to your house the one time those bails were impressive
