Dad trap some but was a dog guy for ever.This should show that we had no coon in his day .

I remember an old guy 30 years ago told me if you saw a coon track in mud or sand back in the 30`s that you wiped it out for fear someone else would see it and trap the coon before you. they were that scarce and worth that much. he said if a guy got 4-5 a season he was at the top of the pile. he also told me they trapped every month with an "R" in it.

yep Dad had 5 that year and they stole his old dog the one in the pic with my sisters.It was 1938 he run a add 10$ REWARD FOR OLD CLOWN ODD WHITE SPOT BETWEEN SHOLDER BLADE 1 NUT WHITE TIP ON TAIL. iN 1938 TEN BUCKS WAS A LOT OF MONEY.hE MADE IT THAT HIGH SO NO ONE COULD CLAIM THE DOG OR HUNT IT. hE TOLD ME WHO STOLE IT AND I HATED HIM TILL HE DIED I COULDNT BE AROUND HIM.dAD SIAD 5 C00N WAS JUST UN HEARD OF THEN AND SOME COULDNT STAND THAT ANY ONE WAS A BETTER TRAINER KIND OF LIKE TODAY WITH TRAPPERS tHAT DOG WAS A REGISTER BLUE TICK BUT CAME OUT ODD COLOR SO THE MAN GAVE IT TO HIM.

I`ve had some trappers and others do me bad in my life. some know I know, some think I don`t know who, but I know. I wouldn`t go out of my way to get justice, but if the opportunity arises, I`ll return the favor.

That rifle I still have but at some time after the pic he took it to a black smith and they filed by hand the barrel octagon.Then cut it down to 16" the stock un screws so the two would fit in his hunting coat.It was a Remington rolling block order out of a sears catalog for 2.98 also the first gun I shot.
