Had a friend take some fur to the buyer today (3/10/16) in Scott Co. IN. These were "stale"....from the 2014-15 season but in over-all better condition than the avg. trapper's. All were "finished" (scraped and dried) 1 female mink (very small, no tail, 2 holes in back) $7 2 Muskrats at $3.50 ea. 3 Small Damaged 'coon $3 ea. 18 'Coon, all 30" or better.. $5 ea.

Same as on the receipt I sent you last yr.....Pfander.
Now, he pays a man to scrape $17 yotes for $5 ea. (Was paying $17 for IN. yotes 3/10/16)
Pays $3 to scrape $5 'coon.
Bought just over 4k 'coon last year...and paid us..whatever it was...$12 to $18 (last season) and he sold 40 (forty) at NAFA this last time. So...he's got around $40k sitting at NAFA doing...nothing !
Now, probably some in cold storage too at home with the electricity cranking 24-7/365.
So...do the math people: $5 'coon -$3 to scrape = $2 - electricity for x months until the market "comes back around" so he can make a profit....+ the mental stress of just having your money tied up in....worthlessness. I don't get it.
What am I missing here ? You can make money on $2 'coon ?

How long has he been in business? Might be as dumb as a fox, besides it is his money he's gambling.
