fresh strip of fly tape stapled onto the back of a ball cap. 1/2 hr walk in the deep woods in as t shirt. never got bit. staple it to the back and works better than on top.

I`ve tried to figure a way to stick on the back of my head and neck. top works, but more get caught on a back of the head strip.

you might get bit rarely, but hardly ever if you make a fly strip hat. deer flys are like an owl, they land on the highest spot first, then pick a target and nail you. same way chicken farmers set traps on top of a pole to catch owls and hawks. no need have knots on you, the preventative is so simple. plus it`s fun hearing them go zzt zzzt zzzzt as they try to get loose and can`t. just makes you feel good and you say die you dirty bassturds, die! same feeling you get when you kill a coyote been tearing your red fox in half. or the guy been knocking your mail box over hits the new concrete one with a ball bat....and wrecks his car. or like happened to doyle, the kid rutting his field gets his car stuck in the mud so bad now doyle owns his car. little joys in life are the best.

doyle has one coming up but not sure on the date, july sometime. the one at my place is always the friday before the one day saturday fta 7b meet. lets the guys that drive far have a place to stay the night before ,as the meet is not but 25 miles away. not sure on that date yet either but generally late september. even if 7b folded we`d still have the cook out, till no one shows up or we all die I guess. it`s just a bunch of good people, trappers loggers sawmill owners and that type that like good food and good company. no one selling anything and no club or assn baloney. all indians, no chiefs. kids , wives, guitars etc. the deer flies are died out by then and generally nice cooler dry weather.
