In Nov. of 1976 I was 9 yrs. old and it was my birthday. My much older brother (14 yrs older), Robin Rayls, gave me a road killed red fox as a birthday gift. Back then, properly handled fox were bringing $70 and more if you shopped around. I sold mine "on the carcass" for $40. I took the money to Big Blue stores (now called Tractor Supply or Orscheln) and bought the race set below for $39.99 ! My folks would never spring for such an "expensive" present, especially just a month from Christmas, so fur bought what I knew I would never have any other way. I still make much of my living today trapping for hire with some bug work thrown in. I never quit following my craft of trapping since then. It keeps me warm and fed.
