I remember a picture of Bob ca. 1980 with that many Indiana red fox, a few grey fox, and no coyotes. Same brown coveralls he still wears today! Tremendous amount of work recognized on this year's catch and put up. A couple of those cats appear to be mutant size monsters.

CHRIS THERE ARE 416 IN THE PICTURE AND ABOUT 175 MORE THAT NEVER MADE THE PICTURE. THE SMALLEST CAT THIS YEAR WAS 38" AND MOST A LOT LOT BIGGER. MY WESTEN AREA i TRAP IS IN OUR 3RD YEAR OF SEVERE DROUGHT AND BEEN NO REPRODUCTION, SO INSTEAD OF MY NORMAL ~30-45 CATS i CAUGHT 16 BUT ALL OLD TOMS AND DRY FEMALES WITH AGE AND SIZE. NEVER CAUGHT A KITTEN THIS YEAR OR A SOW THAT HAD BEEN NURSED. LAST YEAR 1 KITTEN. COYOTES WERE SCARCER THAN NORMAL TOO. NO RODENTS = NO PREDATORS, OR SLIM. HERE IN INDIANA WITH OUR RAIN A GUY CAN`T COMPREHEND A REAL DROUGHT. WE GET SUMMER DROUGHTS, SOME WESTERN AREAS GET YEARS OF DROUGHT AND EVERYTHING SUFFERS. ONE CAT WAS GIVEN TO ME BY A GRATEFUL RANCHER. i TAUGHT HIM TO TRAP SO HE COULD DO EMERGENCY WORK WHEN i`M NOT THERE AND HE GAVE ME THE CAT AS APPRECIATION FOR CATCHING 84 COYOTES OFF HIS RANCH. WHEN HE CALLED AND SAID HE HAD A CAT FOR ME i FIGURED WANTED ME TO SKIN IT AND WE SPLIT THE $ OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES. HE SAYS NO i WANT TO GIVE YOU THAT CAT, WE APPRECIATE ALL THE WORK YOU DO FOR US. ANOTHER TIME i`M AT THE GAS STATION FILLING UP AND ANOTHER RANCHER PULLS UP AND SAYS LET ME GET THAT FOR YOU BOB, WE APPRECIATE THE GOOD YOU DO FOR US. THAT MAKES A GUY FEEL GOOD. THEY SEE ME GONE LONG BEFORE DAYLIGHT AND NEVER BACK BEFORE DARK. THEY KNOW IT`S NO CAKE WALK AND THAT i WORK LIKE A DOG. THERE IS SOME BAD HAPPENS TOO, BUT LIKE A RARE SUNNY DAY HERE, DOESN`T TAKE MUCH GOOD TO FAR OUTWEIGH THE BAD. IT`S LIKE DOG YEARS VS HUMAN YEARS. ONE GOOD IS WORTH 7 BADS.

Even if you get 25 grand it's nowhere near enough considering all the work and expertise required. Catching that many critters in such a narrow window of opportunity takes more than a trick set or magic bottle of lure! Just think how much taxes you get to send to our buddy O'bama.

great stuff Bob. You live on the NE side of Indy don't you. It seems Tim Julien said you live down the street from him or use to. I get a kick out of him I ran some muskrat traps on a ADC job here in Brownsburg awhile back and he sent me a couple of ADC jobs. I call him dad and old man only because of his beard and that I am older than him, but don't look it. By the way if you don't mind me asking what was your best yrs catch?
Thanks Chris

That's a couple great pictures of some supreme handled fur! Imagine the strokes your arms made fleshing and brushing....lot of effort goes into making them look like that. Great job!

CHRIS, FOX AND COYOTES COMBINED 1,365 AND THEN CAME HOME AND DID 350 IN INDIANA. HAD 10 YEARS IN A ROW OVER 1,000 A YEAR THEN CAME HOME AND TRAPPED HERE TOO, BUT THAT WAS WHEN WE HAD A `LIVE MARKET.

that's awesome I love to trap all furbearers, but coyotes are my favorite. Love fox, but I catch way more coyotes, way more. This guy I snared and of course he was dead. But I would of gave this guy a reprieve. I figure he was in great health and to be in that shape and only have 3 legs. You are one badass and had a pretty tough life as it was. What's funny is 2 days later in the adjacent field I caught one missing it's whole foot again in great shape! This one I didn't let go he at least still had the stub to balance on, not like having only 3 legs Attachments:

ABOUT ONE IN 10 COYOTES IN THE EAST THAT ARE 3 YEARS OLD OR MORE ARE MISSING A HIND FOOT AT THE HOCK, NOT A TRAP, ALWAYS AT THE HOCK, MUCH HIGHER THAN A FOOT. THEY GO TO JUMP A STANDARD 54" WOVEN WIRE FENCE WITH A STRAND OF BARB WIRE ON THE TOP AND INTEND TO KICK OFF THE TOP WIRE BUT THEIR FOOR SLIPS BETWEEN THE TOP WIRE AND THE SECOND WIRE DOWN AND THERE THEY HANG TILL THEY TWIST THE FOOT OFF AT THE HOCK. ALWAYS A HIND FOOT. IF A FRONT IS GONE IT`S EITHER A COMPOUND FRACTURE FROM HIT BY CAR, A TRAP ,OR A GUNSHOT, AND THE PART BELOW THE WOUND GETS INFECTED AND ROTS OFF. THEY ARE ONE TOUGH TOUGH ANIMAL AND DESERVE A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF RESPECT.
