I found one this morning. it looked like two softballs growing together. Problem is, my brother was on the other side of the tree and cut it off before I could stop him. Will anymore grow there this season or is it done for. Heck he took the root and all. I weighed it when I got it home and it weighed a pound.

he trapped a bob cat in june, one nursing kittens to boot. that one will not sprout again till next year, but often multiples will come around the same tree so I`d ck.it again and see if more don`t come on the other side. he didn`t kill it, he just robbed the cradle till another comes in the same spot next year. you can`t get the "roots" as they are in the tree wood. still, spank your brother with a dead possum.

I kinda told him we was not on a killing hunt unless we found some biguns. There is more to the story, but I won't elaborate.

the tree we have the one on normally has 3- 4 . another tree thart isa regular still has none. between drought and just getting too late I doubt we`ll get anymore. that`s ok, one nice one is enough. you southern guys might have a little more time yet. my guess is you are 5-7 days behind us so I wouldn`t quit looking just yet.

We have great conditions for the dang things in this area. Heck conditions been good all fall. Do they just have years they don't come up? I checked on 6 trees yesterday that I found them on last year and nothing on them. Last year was terrible drought and we had lots of them. What does it take to grow them. So far we have not been below 45 degrees here. Most nights in the mid 50s to upper 60s in the 10 days. Days from 65 to 85 in the last 10 days. weather is to warm and supposed to stay that away for the next 10 days. Not a chance of frost anytime. So far just the one we found yesterday.
